Gender equality is based on a fundamental principle that everyone should receive equal treatment and no one should be discriminated on the basis of gender. Equal access to education, health care, decent work and representation in political and economic decision-making process is a necessary factor to be provided to girls and it enhances in the development of the society at large. At the United Nations Sustainable Development Summit on 25 September 2015, world leaders adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which includes a set of 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to end poverty, fight inequality and injustice, and tackle climate change by 2030. Sustainable Development Goals under Goal 5: “Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls” focuses on the eradication of the suffering, discrimination and violence of women in every parts of the world. In this regard, conducting a poetry competition on any topic under gender equality would help understand and encourage adolescent girls to put their creative ideas on the particular topic and provide a platform to present themselves on the issue of gender equality. They will creatively raise their voice for gender equality. Thus, the project basically focuses on conducting a poetry competition on any of the topic on gender equality.

Objectives:

  • To raise voice on gender equality through poetry competition.
  • To inspire poets to use their creativity for women’s right
  • To prepare report of the outcome of poetry competition.
